Letter boxing a new creative journey

I am at a time in my life where I am craving the outdoors more than ever.  I heard Gertrude Mueller Nelson say on a iTunes video that we crave the outdoors like a vitamin! This summer I am planning on hiking as much as I can with my five year old companion!

Letterboxes allow us to fit some creativity in too! It is a hidden treasure (hand-carved stamp and log) you bring a stamp pad, your hand carved stamp and a log of your own! You stamp in the log and "collect" their stamp in yours!

I love the idea of a world of trails with little art treasures waiting to be found!  Pic from my log I left (I am rocking the monkey stamp), Woo hoo- how are you spreading the creative love in your world?

ART CAMP 2012: SO much fun!!!

Our campers were all girls this year! We made tools, got brave and used them to make art supplies, and then got down to creating a whole bunch of fantastic and functional things!!! Hope you enjoy the pics and can see yourself joining us sometime. YES we mean adults too! Watch for one day classes. Some of them will be sure to fit your interests!

ARTIST TOOLS - Dover Images

If you haven't poked around on this website yet - go do it! I often check out Dover books from the library and I even own a few books. I love this resource for artists.

How I use the images~
  • I love taking the old architecture images and pulling out details to inspire stamps & stencils. I like to tweak the image to my liking. I often make both a stencil and a stamp so I can use the images both in the positive & the negative.
  • Sometimes practice my drawing skills by copying images
  • Use patterns in my rug hooking. Often I am trying to find interesting border patterns for rugs I hook.
Here is an image of the favorite rug I have done so far. I call it a celtic family rug.
